Sai Provisions

Sai Provisions is just a regular shop in the Kailash Nagar area of Nanded. We’ve been here for a good amount of time, serving the people who live in the nearby blocks. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things—lentils, soaps, biscuits, and whatever else people need for their kitchens. It’s a bit of a squeeze to get through the aisles sometimes. I’m usually behind the counter from eight in the morning until late at night. My wife helps out in the afternoons so I can take a nap or run to the bank. We know most of the customers by their first names. We see their kids growing up and coming in for sweets. The building itself is nothing special, just a concrete structure that we’ve tried to keep clean. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we have to use a torch to find things for people. Kailash Nagar is a quiet place mostly, except for the festival times. We don't do any fancy advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. Post Nanded is our mailing address, but everyone just says the shop near the big tree. We try to keep everything stocked up, but sometimes the suppliers don't show up on time. That’s life in a small town provision store, I suppose. Just daily chores and chatting with neighbors about how the prices of things keep going up every month.
