Godavari Tractors

You can find us in the Shivam Building over in Mathura Nagar. We are right on Basmat Road here in Parbhani. It’s a dusty place because of the tractors coming in and out from the fields. Godavari Tractors is where I spend most of my time, usually with grease on my shirt or hands. The yard is full of machines, some new and some that have seen much better days. Farmers come by early in the morning before they head out to work. We talk about the rain or the lack of it while we look at engines. The floor of the shop is concrete and always has a few oil stains no matter how much we scrub it. It’s a noisy business with the sound of metal hitting metal and engines revving up. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the keys and the receipts. My nephew helps out with the heavy lifting because my back isn't what it used to be. Parbhani gets really hot in the summer, so we have a big cooler that makes a lot of noise but doesn't do much. We just keep going because the work needs to be done. People depend on these machines to make a living, so we try to be quick about it. It’s just us here, working every day and hoping for a good harvest for everyone. We usually shut the gates when the sun starts to go down.
