Shreemoolam Clinic

Running Shreemoolam Clinic takes up most of my days. We are situated in Kalady Sreemoolanagaram Post, and it is a place where everyone seems to know everyone else. Sometimes the mail gets a bit mixed up because the address Kalady Sreemoolanagaram Post is repeated on all the forms, but we manage to get everything sorted in the end. The building isn't brand new, and you can see some rain marks on the outside walls from the last monsoon season. Inside, the air feels a bit cooler than the humid air outside. We have a small desk where we keep the registers, and the ink always seems to run out at the wrong time. I try to keep the waiting area tidy, but with people coming in with muddy shoes when it rains, it’s a constant job. There’s a particular smell of antiseptic that lingers in the rooms, which I suppose is normal for a clinic. We don't have a big fancy sign, just a plain one that tells people they’ve arrived at the right spot. Most of the time, the tea stall nearby is where we get our morning break. It’s a quiet life here, mostly focused on the people who walk through the door needing a bit of help or just some advice. The chairs are mismatched, but they are comfortable enough for a short wait while we get things ready for the next person.
