Our place is at No:104 on Gandhi Road in Panruti. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know it’s usually humming with people and vehicles. We’ve got the shop set up to handle whatever comes through the door. It’s mostly a lot of grease, the sound of tools hitting metal, and the smell of fuel. We spend our days under hoods or looking at tires that have seen way too many miles. It’s a local spot, so we know a lot of the people who drop by. We don’t really do anything fancy here. There are some chairs in the front for people to sit while they wait, and usually an old fan buzzing in the corner to keep the air moving. Panruti can get quite hot, so the shade of the workshop is where we spend most of our time. Sometimes we’re chasing down a spare part that’s hard to find, which involves a lot of phone calls to other shops. We aren't big on polished sales pitches. If a vehicle needs work, we tell you what’s wrong and then we get to fixing it. The floor is usually stained with oil no matter how much we scrub it. It’s just the nature of the work. We keep the tools organized, or at least we try to, but by the end of a busy Tuesday, everything is scattered everywhere. We just lock up and start fresh the next morning.
