Gomantak Times, Sakal Group

This is the office for the Gomantak Times, which is part of the Sakal Group, right here in Panjim. Our space is where the senior reporter and the rest of the team get the daily news sorted for Goa. It is located in the heart of the city, so there is always something happening right outside our windows. Panjim is a very lively place, especially with all the tourists and the government buildings nearby. We spend our days chasing down leads or talking to people on the street. It is not exactly a glamorous job, despite what some people might think. There is a lot of sitting around waiting for a phone call to return or typing up messy notes from a long meeting. The office is often cluttered with old newspapers, notebooks, and half-empty tea cups. We do not have fancy furniture or a modern lobby area for visitors. It is a working newsroom through and through. You can hear the hum of the computers and people talking across their desks all day long. We have been part of the Goa scene for a long time. People know they can find us here if something important happens in the state. We are not trying to be anything other than a local paper. We just write about what we see. Some days are slow, and other days we can barely keep up with it. That is just the nature of the news.
