Vardhman Wool Store

Our little shop Vardhman Wool Store is tucked away right at 238/2 on Kaisthan Street. If you look across the way, you’ll see the Roshan Mehal building, which is how most folks find us when they wander down this side of the road. It’s been here for a good while now. The space inside is mostly filled up with stacks of wool and different colored yarns piled high on old wooden shelves. Some of the bundles have been there a bit, while others move out the door as soon as winter starts to set in. We spend a lot of our mornings just dusting the shelves because the street outside gets quite a bit of traffic and the dust just drifts in through the open front. It’s not a fancy place by any means, but we have what people need when they want to knit something for their kids or grandkids. Sometimes the lighting isn’t the best in the back corners, so we have to bring the wool out to the front door just to see the real color in the sunlight. Customers come in and talk for a bit, mostly about the weather or what’s happening on the street. It gets busy during certain months and very quiet during others. We just keep things organized the way we know how and try to keep track of all the different weights and plies we have sitting around the floor.
