Textile World India

We are located on Risalu Road, right near the Sewah stretch of the national highway. It’s an industrial sort of area, so there’s always something moving around outside. Inside the building, it’s mostly rolls of fabric and the sound of machines. We deal with all kinds of textiles. Some days it feels like we are drowning in cloth. We have to organize everything by color and material, which takes forever and we often get behind. The air always has those little bits of lint floating around. You get used to it after a week or two, though visitors usually sneeze. It’s a big space because fabric takes up a lot of room. We spend a lot of time checking for flaws in the weave. If the light isn't good, it's hard to see the small mistakes in the thread. The highway being so close makes it easy for the trucks to load up, but the dust from the road gets everywhere. We have a small crew here. Everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing without much talking. It’s not a quiet place. There’s always the hum of something running. We don’t do much in terms of showing off or having fancy displays. We just get the orders ready and ship them out as fast as we can. It’s a practical business. We’ve been doing this for a long time now. Most of us have been working with cloth since we were young kids.
