I’ve been working at the New Soda Shop here in Saffidon for a good while now. We are located right near the Anaj Mandi. There is always a lot of activity with the grain market nearby. You see farmers and laborers coming by all day, especially when the sun is really beating down on the street. It gets pretty dusty out there. A cold drink is what most people are looking for when they step inside. The shop isn't anything fancy to look at, just a regular place with some counters and crates stacked up in the corner. Sometimes the fridge acts up. We usually get it sorted out before things get too warm. It’s a simple routine, opening up early in the morning and staying until the sun goes down and the market noise starts to quiet. My hands are usually wet from the ice or sticky from the syrup. That’s just how it is in this line of work. We don't really have a big team or anything, just a few of us making sure there’s enough stock on the shelves. People around here know where we are. We don't need big signs. It's just a local spot near the Mandi where you can get off your feet for a minute. Anyway, there isn't much more to say about it. We’ve been at this spot for years and don't plan on moving anywhere else soon. There's not much to it but it keeps us busy.
