Designers Terracotta Collection By Sheetal

Sheetal started this little shop here at 574/1 Insar Chowk because she just really likes working with clay. It's been a few years now and the place is usually a bit of a mess with terracotta pieces everywhere you look. We aren't a big factory or anything fancy, just some local folks making pots and decorative items that people seem to like. It gets pretty hot in the summers but we keep at it. Most days you'll find someone in the back shaping things by hand while the front door stays open for whoever walks in from the street. We don't have a big staff, it's mostly Sheetal and a couple of others helping out with the firing and the painting. People come by when they need something for their garden or maybe a gift that doesn't look like it came off a conveyor belt. The Insar Chowk area is always busy, so there's always noise outside while we work. We don't do much advertising, mostly just neighbors telling other neighbors about the terracotta we have sitting on the shelves. Sometimes things break in the kiln, which is frustrating, but that's just part of how it goes with this kind of work. If you're walking past the chowk, you can see the orange clay colors from the sidewalk. It's just a simple business doing what we know how to do. We don't try to make it more complicated than that.
