You can find Radhika Sewing Machine Company right on Barsat Road. We are near the Nilkhant Company and the petrol pump is directly across from us. It is a noisy spot because of all the trucks and cars stopping for fuel. We have been here for a long time and our hands are usually covered in machine oil. People bring in their old sewing machines that have stopped working or need a new needle bar. We sit at the benches and take the metal parts apart to see what is stuck. The floor always has a bit of oil on it even though we sweep it every evening. There are stacks of machines in the back waiting for someone to pick them up. We sell the machines too but a lot of our day is just fixing things for the local tailors. The Chungi area is always moving and we see a lot of people passing by our door. We don't have a big team of people. It is just a few of us who know how these machines work. Sometimes a customer comes in and stays for an hour just to chat while we fix their machine. It is a practical kind of business. We don't use any fancy talk or marketing. We just know how to make a sewing machine run smooth again so people can get back to their own work.
