Bhandari Handloom Industries

We spend most of our time at Plot No. 112 in Sector- 25 Part No. 2 Hudda. It’s a busy area and there is always something going on outside. At Bhandari Handloom Industries, the main thing we do is work with fabrics and looms. It can get pretty loud when everything is running at once. My father started this and now we just keep it going day by day. We have stacks of handloom items piled up against the walls. Some are bright colors and some are just plain. We don't have a showroom with glass windows or anything like that. People just walk in through the main gate and see us working. The floors are concrete and they get dusty from the thread. We try to keep it clean but it’s hard with all the material coming in and out. Most of our day is spent checking the weaving or talking to the workers. We drink a lot of tea while we look over the orders. It’s not an easy job and your back usually hurts by five o’clock. Sector 25 is a good spot for us because the trucks can get in fairly easily to pick up the finished goods. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just making sure the quality is okay before it goes out. It’s just how we earn our living and we’ve been at this spot for quite a few years now.
