Ambulance - Jan Sewal Dal

We have been stationed over at the Civil Hospital for quite some time now. Ambulance - Jan Sewal Dal is mostly just a group of us who keep the vehicles ready for whenever the phone rings. It’s a busy spot, especially right near the main hospital entrance where everyone is trying to park. The drivers usually hang out on the wooden benches under the trees when things are quiet. Sometimes the phones don't stop for hours, and other times we just sit and watch the people go by. We make sure the tires are okay and the tanks stay full of fuel. It’s not some fancy office with air conditioning. We just have our small corner in the hospital grounds. People often walk up to us asking for directions to the different wards or where the nearest chemist is. We know this hospital like the back of our hands. It gets very dusty during the summer months, and we spend a lot of time wiping down the dashboards. Usually, there is a pot of tea going somewhere nearby. We just try to help out where we can. It’s how things work around here. The hospital building is getting older, and we’ve seen plenty of changes over the years. New wings get built, but we stay in our usual spot near the gate. Traffic outside on the main road is often a total mess, and we have to know all the side streets to get anywhere fast.
