Needle Craft

Our shop, Needle Craft, is located at E-42 on Akkalkot Road in the Midc area of Solapur-6. It’s a pretty standard industrial unit where we spend our days surrounded by fabric and thread. The sound of sewing machines is the background noise of our lives. We have rows of them set up, and there’s always someone sitting there working on a seam or finishing a hem. We handle all sorts of garment work, from basic stitching to more detailed patterns. Solapur is known for its textiles, so we’re just one of many places doing this kind of work, but we take pride in what we do. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread and fabric scraps, and we have to sweep it up every evening before we head home. It’s a busy place, especially when we have a big order to get out. We have a small storage area for the rolls of cloth and the finished boxes ready for shipping. Most of us here have been working with needles and thread since we were young. It’s a skill you just pick up over time. We don't have a big corporate structure; it’s just the owner and the workers all together in the same space. We just focus on getting the stitches straight and making sure the clothes look right. It’s a simple business, really.
