Vinod Rice Mill

Vinod Rice Mill has been a part of Gondpipri for a long time now. We’re right on the Main Road, just across from the State Bank of India. If you walk behind the Hanuman Mandir, you’ll find us easily enough by following the sound of the engines. The noise of the machinery is something you just get used to after a while, even if it’s loud to anyone visiting. It’s a steady hum that fills the whole day. We spend a lot of time checking the machines and making sure the grain is moving through the pipes like it should. It gets pretty hot inside the mill, especially during the summer months when there isn't much of a breeze. There’s always a bit of dust in the air from the husks, so we’re usually sweeping up at the end of the day to keep things manageable. We see a lot of local folks coming in and out with their loads. Some stay for a chat and a cup of tea, while others are in a big hurry to get back to their fields. We don’t do things in a flashy way here. It’s just a mill where we do our work and go home. Being near the temple is nice because you hear the bells every now and then during the evening prayers. We have a small crew and we all know our jobs. It’s a basic operation that keeps us busy from morning till evening.
