Raj Steel & Timber Mart

Raj Steel & Timber Mart is located behind Ghanshyam Beverage on the Panchela Dahod Highway Road. This part of Tehsil Devgadh Baria gets quite dusty because of all the heavy trucks passing through. We spend most of our mornings unloading timber and sorting through steel rods. It's a lot of heavy lifting, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. The yard is usually full of stacks of wood that smell like fresh pine and old earth. We don't have any fancy office space; just a small desk where we keep the books and take phone calls. Sometimes the highway noise makes it hard to hear, but you get used to it. My cousin and I run the place mostly. We open up early, around seven, to beat the heat of the afternoon. When people come by, they usually know exactly what they need for their construction projects. We just help them load it up and send them on their way. There isn't any big marketing strategy here. We just try to keep enough stock so that people from the surrounding villages don't have to travel too far. Sometimes a customer will stay for a cup of tea if things aren't too busy. It’s a simple life, focused on wood and metal. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time and don't plan on moving. The location works well for the transporters too. We keep our tools sharp and our prices where they need to be.
