Gravure Art

We are located at Plot No 97 in Phase 1 of the Chandigarh Industrial Area. It’s a bit of a gray place with lots of trucks coming and going, but it works for us. Gravure Art is mostly about the cylinders and the ink. We spend our mornings setting up the machines and making sure the pressure is just right. If the setting is off even a little bit, the whole thing looks wrong and we have to start over. The smell of solvents is pretty strong in the building, so we keep the doors open when we can. Chandigarh has a very specific layout, and being in Phase 1 means we are close to a lot of other workshops. Our space is mostly taken up by the big rollers and the drying racks. There isn't much room for a fancy lobby or chairs. We just have a small desk where we handle the paperwork and the orders. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, which is frustrating, but we just wait it out and start again once the lights come back. The work takes a lot of attention to detail, especially when we are checking the engraving for any tiny scratches or bits of dust. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but there is a certain rhythm to it that feels okay. We just focus on getting the rolls finished and ready for the next stage.
