Our place is at No. 390 in Industrial Area Phase-1, and if you walk in, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of leather. It’s a strong scent that sticks to your clothes, but we’re used to it by now. We spend our days making shoes, which is a lot more work than people think. There are many steps involved, from cutting the hides to stitching the soles, and it’s usually quite loud with all the machinery going. We’ve got a mix of older workers who have been doing this for decades and some younger guys just learning the trade. The floor is usually covered in scraps, and there’s always a cart being pushed somewhere. It’s a real factory environment, not some polished showroom. We don’t bother with fancy slogans or big promises. We just show up, do the stitching, and make sure the boxes are packed up properly for the trucks. Lunch breaks are usually spent sitting outside or in the small canteen area, just chatting about the day. It’s hard work and your hands get dirty, but there’s a sense of getting something done. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we’re still here doing the same thing every day. It’s just a regular shoe factory where people work hard. It is a practical life, and we are fine with that.
