It’s a big, open space because you need a lot of room when you’re moving around long pieces of steel and heavy timber logs. The yard is usually a bit of a mess with scraps and sawdust, but that’s just how a working mill looks. We don't have a fancy office building; it's mostly just a small room where we keep the ledger and the phone. The noise of the saws is something you just get used to after a couple of days. We started small and just kept adding more equipment as we could afford it. Most of our guys have been working with wood and metal since they were young, so they know the materials better than anyone. We don't have a website with professional photos or anything like that. People usually just drive over or call us because they heard we have what they need in stock. It gets cold in the winters and dusty in the summers, but the work stays the same. We just try to get the cuts right and the loads out on time. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We don't make big promises, we just do the work that's in front of us every day.
