Thirumalai Traders

Our shop is at number 78 on Rettiyar Street. It is a narrow street and things can get a little tight when there are deliveries coming in. Thirumalai Traders has been here for a good while, and the building shows its age a bit, but it serves us well. We keep the front door open most of the day to let some air in. Inside, there are shelves filled with stock and a small counter where we sit. It’s not the most organized place in the world, as we tend to stack things wherever there is a gap. Sometimes we have to move three boxes just to get to one, which is just part of the routine. The floor is concrete and a bit worn down from people walking in and out. We don’t have a website or any of those modern things; we just talk to whoever walks in or calls the landline. Life on Rettiyar Street is pretty steady. We know the other shopkeepers and we look out for each other. It’s a simple setup. We arrive early, sweep the front, and get ready for whatever the day brings. No one here wears a suit or uses big words. We just handle the trades and make sure the count is right before we close up for the night. The light in the back is a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept. It is a humble place, but it is ours and we take care of it every single day.
