Up on the Taliegao Plateau, that’s where you’ll find the campus. It’s a pretty big area of land, and we’ve been here for quite a while now. It’s away from the main noise of the city, which is nice for everyone. Most of the buildings are spread out, so there’s a lot of walking involved if you’re going from one department to another. The wind blows pretty hard across the plateau sometimes, especially in the evenings. We have students coming from all over the place, and the staff is a mix of people who have been here for decades and some newer faces. It’s not like those fancy private colleges you see in movies. It’s more of a functional place. We have the library, the labs, and the administrative blocks scattered around. The grass gets long in the monsoon, and we have to keep up with the maintenance of the old stone structures. It’s a lot of quiet study and people rushing to get to their lectures on time. We don’t have all the latest gadgets in every single room, but the basics are there for the students. It feels like its own little community once you get to know the paths and the shortcuts between the buildings. Just a regular public university doing its thing on the hill for the people here. We just keep the gates open and the classes running.
