We are located in Namblabal, which is a place known for its history with kesar. Moonlight Kesar Co. is a small family-run type of thing. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s mostly just a few rooms where we handle the cleaning and sorting of the saffron threads. It’s very delicate work and you need good eyesight for it. We sit under bright lights for hours making sure only the good parts are kept. The smell of saffron is very strong in the house. It’s a pleasant scent, but it stays on your clothes long after you leave. We source everything locally from the fields nearby. We know the farmers personally because we’ve lived here our whole lives. There are no fancy machines here; almost everything is done by hand. We use small scales to weigh the portions out. It takes a lot of patience to do this day after day. We aren't trying to sell to the whole world, just to people who appreciate the real stuff. Sometimes we sit and drink tea while we work and talk about the weather or the harvest. It’s a slow pace of life, but it suits the product we handle. We don't use flashy packaging either. We just focus on keeping the product clean and dry. It’s a simple life here in Namblabal, and we’re quite content with the way we do things without any extra fuss or noise.
