Sree Mahalakshmi Hollow Blocks

Our business, Sree Mahalakshmi Hollow Blocks, is situated at 3/141 on the Main Road in Karadivavi. It’s a very easy spot to find because we are right there on the main stretch. Most of the time, you can see the stacks of hollow blocks piled up from the road. We spend most of our days out in the yard, mixing the concrete and getting the blocks into the molds. It’s repetitive work, but it’s what we know how to do. The sun can be quite strong here, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done early in the morning. We are just a small local crew. Some of us have been working here together for years, so we have a good rhythm going. We don't have a big fancy office. There is just a small room where we keep the records and where people can come to pay or ask about prices. It’s often a bit dusty because of the cement, but that’s just part of the job. We don't use any high-tech marketing. People usually just see us while they are driving by or hear about us from their neighbors who are building something nearby. We like being part of the Karadivavi community. It’s a simple operation, but we stay busy enough. We don't make any big promises, we just show people the blocks we have and let them decide if it’s what they need for their project.
