It is a busy corner over here at Akharia Chowk. Vinayak Watch has been in this exact spot for a good while now. Sadri is a smaller town, but we get plenty of people heading up towards the Ranakpur temples who happen to stop by. Mostly, it is the local people from around the chowk who come in when their wristwatches start acting up or the strap snaps. I spend most of my afternoon working on those tiny pins and gears that always seem to break. It is very fiddly work and you definitely need a steady hand and a lot of light. The shop is quite simple, nothing too modern or flashy. I have a couple of wooden benches and some display shelves that have seen better days. When the sun hits the front of the shop in the late afternoon, it gets very bright and warm inside. I usually keep a small radio playing some old songs to keep me company while I work. Sometimes the parts for the older mechanical watches are hard to find, so I keep a big collection of old movements in my desk drawers just in case. People in Sadri know where to find me if they need a quick fix. I don't have a big staff, it is just me doing the daily grind and making sure people can tell the time. We see all kinds of watches, from the cheap ones to old family pieces. It is honest work.
