Vaishnav Namkeen & Sweet Home

We moved into the V D S Nagar New Super Market area a few years back. It is a busy spot with lots of different shops around us. Most of our day is spent frying different types of namkeen. The smell of oil and spices fills the shop pretty quickly every morning. We make sure the batches are small so everything stays fresh on the shelf. My cousin helps me behind the counter when school is out. We have a variety of snacks that people like to take with their evening tea. The sweets are kept in the glass display case at the front. We try to keep things organized but when the market gets crowded on weekends, it gets a bit chaotic. Customers have their favorites and they get upset if we run out. We do our best to keep up with the demand. The shop is not very large so we have to use the space wisely. We store the big sacks of flour and sugar in the small back room. It is hard work being on your feet all day but seeing the regulars makes it better. They usually stop for a quick chat while we pack their bags. We do not really do anything fancy with the packaging. Just plain boxes and bags. It keeps the cost down for everyone. We are just local people serving local people. That is the way we like it.
