Umiya Garden is out on Sumerpur Road. It’s a bit of a different pace out here compared to the middle of the city. We have a good amount of open space, which we try to keep as tidy as possible. It’s mostly about managing the grounds and making sure the plants don't dry out in the heat. We get people coming by who want to take a break from their drive or families who want to let their kids run around for a bit. It’s not a high-pressure kind of place. We spend a lot of time watering the grass and sweeping the walkways. Sometimes we host small gatherings or just provide a spot for people to sit and eat something. The wind can get pretty strong on Sumerpur Road, so we are often picking up stray leaves or fixing the umbrellas. It’s a simple operation with just a couple of people looking after everything. We don't have a huge staff or anything like that. We just focus on keeping the place open and making sure there’s enough shade for whoever stops by. Some days are very quiet, especially when it’s raining, and we just sit under the porch and watch the cars go past. It’s a lot of physical work, digging and planting and cleaning, but it feels okay to be outside. We just keep things running the best we can every day and hope for good weather.
