Shivam Nursery

Shivam Nursery is situated at the Sumerpur Ramdev Krishi Farm. We are quite close to the Arya Samaj building in Sonebhadra. There is a lot of green space around here, as you might expect. We spend most of our time outdoors with the plants and soil. It is a simple farm setup. We have different types of saplings and trees growing in rows. It can get a bit muddy when it rains, so wear boots if you visit. We don't have a fancy showroom. It is just the land and the plants. Some days are busier than others, especially when the planting season starts. We grow things we think will do well in our local climate. People from the nearby villages and the town come by to pick up stuff for their gardens or farms. We have a few helpers who know their way around the nursery. It’s hard work, but we like being outside. The sun can be strong in Sonebhadra, so we keep everything watered. It’s not a polished business, just a place for plants. We don't use much technology here. Most of our records are in a notebook. You just come in, look at what’s growing, and take what you need. It is a straightforward way of doing things. We are usually here from early morning until the sun goes down. Most of the time we have dirt under our fingernails.
