Satyam Sweet Maart

Down here in Falna, life moves at its own pace. At Satyam Sweet Maart, we’ve become part of that rhythm. The shop isn’t very big, and we have a lot of stuff crammed into the shelves. We spend our mornings checking the milk deliveries and making sure the stoves are ready to go. There’s a certain way the light hits the front of the shop in the afternoon that makes everything look a bit orange. We don’t use any special machines; it’s mostly just us using our hands and the same old pots we’ve had for years. The counter is a bit worn down where people lean on it while they’re waiting for their order to be packed. We try to keep things organized, but when it gets busy, there are boxes everywhere and the floor gets a bit messy with sugar grains. We know most of our customers’ families, so we end up chatting about the local news or the weather while we weigh out the sweets. It isn't a corporate place with rules about how to talk to people. We just talk like normal people do. By the time we start closing the shutters, our backs are usually a bit stiff from standing all day, but it’s a good kind of tired. It’s just how we live. We don't do anything special, we just keep the shop open and the trays full.
