Being right on Police Thana Road means there is always something going on just outside the door. Rajendra Kumar Watch Co is tucked into the Mahuda Market area here in Sojat City. It is a very practical kind of shop. I do not bother with fancy decorations or big bright signs to get attention. Most people around here already know we are the place to go for their watch problems. I have been sitting at this same workbench for years, surrounded by little jars of tiny screws and metal tweezers. Some days are very slow and I just spend my time cleaning the stock or tidying up, but then other days everyone seems to have a broken watch at the same time. The market gets very crowded on certain days and the noise from the street is just a constant background hum now. I handle almost all the repairs myself. It is not just about selling a new watch to someone, it is more about making the old ones run again for a few more years. Some of these watches have a lot of personal history for the people who own them. I see customers from all different parts of Sojat coming through the door. The lighting in the shop could probably be a bit better, but I have my trusty desk lamp for all the close-up work. It is a small business run by people who live right here. We don't have anything fancy, just the shop.
