Om Sidhi Vinayak Bekars is over in Subhash Nagar. We make and sell bread, biscuits, and some cakes. The smell of baking usually fills up the shop in the morning. We have a small oven in the back where we do all the work. It’s not a big factory, just a local bakery for the people in Subhash Nagar. We make regular white bread and some sweet buns that the kids really like. We also have those crunchy rusk biscuits that people dip in their tea. Sometimes we make cakes for birthdays if someone asks in advance. They aren't fancy designer cakes, just simple ones with some cream and fruit. The shop is quite small and the counter takes up most of the space. We have glass cases to show the biscuits and snacks we made that day. It gets quite warm inside because of the oven, especially in the summer months. We start working while most people are still sleeping so the bread is fresh when the shop opens. We don't have a delivery van or anything, people just come to the door. We have been in Subhash Nagar for a while and have our regular customers who come every day. It is a simple business of flour and sugar and heat. We just try to make enough for everyone and keep the shelves full. It’s a good feeling when everything sells out at the end of the day. We just clean up and get ready for tomorrow.
