New Shankar Ice Cream Parlor

Our place, New Shankar Ice Cream Parlor, is located on Sojat Road Subhash Marg. It’s a pretty busy road with a lot of traffic passing by throughout the day and night. We have a few tables inside where people can sit down away from the noise of the street. Usually, the afternoons are quiet because it’s too hot for people to be out, but once the sun starts setting, the parlor fills up. We spend a lot of time checking the temperature of the cooling units because if they fail, we lose everything. It’s a bit of a stress, honestly. We serve different kinds of scoops and shakes, and we try to keep the fruit toppings fresh. The floor is tiled, so it’s easy to mop up when someone drops a bit of their sundae. We don’t really have a big staff, just a few of us who take turns behind the counter. Sometimes we forget to turn the sign on, or we run out of spoons, and we have to run to the shop next door to borrow some. It’s just how things go. We see families coming in after a movie or a meal, and it’s good to see them enjoying something cold. We keep the music low so people can actually talk to each other. It’s not a fancy corporate chain; it’s just our parlor on Subhash Marg where we try to keep the lights on and the cream cold.
