Matheswary Kirana Store

The store is located right on Ramdev Road and we have been sitting here for years. It’s a basic grocery place where we keep the usual stuff like lentils, rice, soaps, and whatever people need for their kitchens. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to fit everything in. Sometimes we run out of space and boxes just sit on the floor for a bit. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and they remember they forgot to buy salt or milk. We know most of the people who live around here by their names. It’s not a supermarket or anything big like that. Just a counter and some jars of sweets for the kids. The ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking noise but it keeps us cool enough during the summer heat. We spend a lot of time weighing out bags of flour or pulses. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and we have to wait around to get the stock sorted. It’s a lot of standing and talking to neighbors about the weather or the local news. We don't have fancy lights, just some regular bulbs that flicker sometimes. It feels good when a regular customer stops by just to say hello even if they aren't buying anything that day. We keep a ledger for the old-timers who pay at the end of the month. It's just a simple neighborhood shop for daily needs.
