Ranakpur is a quiet place most of the time but we stay busy with the local people and travelers passing through. We make sweets every morning. The milk comes in early from the village nearby. We start heating the big vats before the sun is even fully up. It is a lot of hard work to get the consistency right for the mawa. My uncle started this shop because he knew how to make traditional Jodhpur style sweets. We have a few benches for people to sit down if they are tired. Most people just grab a box for a family function or a temple visit. We do not use any fancy machines here. Everything is done by hand. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky because of the sugar syrup, but we scrub it down every night after we close. We do not spend money on big advertisements. Our name travels by word of mouth mostly. If someone likes the ladoos, they tell their neighbor. That is how we have kept going all these years. The weather here can be dry, so we have to store things carefully so they do not get hard. We are just a small family business trying to make a living. You won't find any complicated fusion dishes here. We stick to what we know. If you want something traditional, you just stop by. We are usually open until the last bus leaves the main road.
