Jai Gurudev Sweet

You can find Jai Gurudev Sweet right over in the Surajpole area. It is an old part of town and the streets are narrow and busy. Our shop isn't very large, but we make use of every inch of space we have. In the back, we have the big vats for frying and the space where we mix the dough. It gets really hot back there, especially in the afternoon. We don't have many people working here, just family and a couple of helpers. We make a set amount of sweets and snacks every day and once they are gone, that’s usually it for the day. We don't like to keep things sitting around too long. The people who live nearby come in pretty often, and we know most of them by name. It’s a quiet kind of business in a noisy part of the city. We don't spend money on big signs or anything like that. We just put the trays out and wait. Sometimes the rain makes the street outside a mess, but customers still find their way to us. We try to keep the place as clean as we can, though with the old building, it's a constant task. It’s just a plain sweet shop where we do the same thing day after day. We like the routine of it and being part of the Surajpole community for as long as we can.
