Jai Durga Papad Udhyog

Our place is in the RIICO Industrial Area on the Main Nimbara Road at Industrial Estate 37623. This isn't a shop where you walk in to buy one or two things, it's more of a production spot. We make papads here. The air is always full of the smell of black pepper, cumin, and lentils. It’s a busy environment with a lot of manual work involved. We have large sheets where the dough is rolled out and dried. The heat in the industrial area can be quite intense, especially in the middle of the day. We have stacks of finished papads waiting to be packed into bags. The floors are kept as clean as possible but there is always some flour dust around. We work with the local suppliers for our ingredients and try to keep everything moving. It is a lot of repetitive movement, rolling and stacking, rolling and stacking. We have a few machines but a lot of it is still done by hand to get the thickness right. It is noisy with the fans and the workers talking. We don't have a fancy office, just a small desk in the corner for paperwork. It’s a productive place and we focus on getting the orders ready for the trucks. When the sun sets, we finally get to clean up and head home, ready to start the whole process again tomorrow morning.
