Hare Kishan Misthan Bhandar

Ranakpur Main Market is a place where you see a lot of different people, from locals to those visiting the temples. Hare Kishan Misthan Bhandar is right in the middle of all that activity. We have a pretty large front window where we put the trays of sweets, though the sun can be a bit of a problem in the afternoons. We have to keep moving things into the shade so they don't melt or get ruined. The market is always full of chatter and the sound of bells from the nearby areas. We start our work very early in the morning when it is still cool outside. By the time the shops around us start opening their shutters, we already have the first batches ready. It gets quite crowded in the shop during festival times and we barely have room to breathe. We don't use any fancy machines, just our hands and the old stoves we have in the back. The floor is made of stone and stays cool, which is nice in the summer. We spend a lot of time cleaning up sugar syrup that spills on the counter. It is a lot of standing on your feet all day, but we are used to it by now. The market is our home and we have seen many seasons change from this front door. We keep the lights on until the very last customer leaves the market at night.
