We sit at the bench and look through a magnifying glass at gears that are barely visible to the eye. People bring in everything from old wall clocks to the latest wristwatches. Often, it is just a matter of cleaning out the old oil that has dried up inside the mechanism. Ghee Ka Zanda is a busy place, so we have a constant stream of people walking past our window. We don't do any big promotions or marketing. We just rely on the fact that people know we are here when their watch stops. The name of the shop is something we’ve always liked, and it’s become a bit of a landmark for the locals. We see a lot of history in the watches people bring in, sometimes they are gifts from decades ago. We do our best to handle them carefully and get them ticking again. It’s a slow, steady job that requires a lot of patience, but it’s what we know how to do best in this neighborhood.
