Gokul Sweet & Namkin

Gokul Sweet & Namkin is our small shop at the Old Bus Stand, shop number 11. It's not a very big space, but we manage to fit everything we need inside. Being near the bus stand means we see all sorts of people coming through. Some are just passing by to catch a bus, while others live around here and stop in every day. The floor is a bit uneven, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound, but it keeps the air moving. We spend a lot of time packaging up the namkeen into small bags for people who are in a hurry. It gets quite hectic when a bus arrives and everyone rushes out at once. We don't have a fancy register, just a drawer and some notebooks to keep track of things. Sometimes we get the orders mixed up when it’s too busy, but we try to fix it quickly. We don't do any big promotions or put up posters. People just know we're here by the smell of the food and the number on the door. It's a lot of standing and moving around, and our backs usually ache by the end of the shift. We don't have a lot of help, so we do everything ourselves, from cleaning the floors to stocking the shelves. It’s just a normal way to earn a living in this part of town.
