Ganpati Leather Works

We've been here near Mahaveer Hotel on College Road for quite a few years now. Ganpati Leather Works isn't a fancy place, just a small shop where we handle leather items of all kinds. Most days, people bring in worn-out sandals or bags that need a bit of stitching or a new strap. We sit here among the scraps of hide and the constant smell of polish and glue. It gets quite busy during the college season because students always need their bags or belts fixed. Sometimes we make belts or small wallets if we have the right material on hand and a bit of extra time. It's a lot of manual work, sitting on the low wooden stools for hours. My hands are usually stained with black or brown dye by the end of the day. The shop isn't much to look at, just some old shelves and a couple of sewing machines that have seen better days. We know most people in the neighborhood by face and name. If you're walking down College Road, you'll see us right there. We don't do anything high-end or expensive, just practical stuff that lasts for a while. The leather we use is sturdy and does the job. People often come in to chat for a bit while we work on their repairs. It's a slow process sometimes, but we get it done. The light in here isn't great in the evenings, but we manage with a single bulb. Just a local spot for local needs.
