Devendra Kirana Store

Our shop, Devendra Kirana Store, is located at Shivaji Nagar 253. It’s basically just a front room of the building that we turned into a store years ago. We are right in the middle of the residential area of Shivaji Nagar, so we get a lot of neighbors coming in for their daily supplies. I keep the shelves stocked with things like rice, dal, soaps, and different kinds of spices. It’s a small space, so things can get a bit cluttered when a new shipment arrives. I usually have to move sacks of flour around just to make a path. The address 253 is easy to find if you are walking through the lanes of Shivaji Nagar. I open the shop early in the morning, usually around seven, to catch the people going for their morning walk. It’s mostly a one-man show here. I handle the money, the stocking, and the cleaning. Some days it’s quiet and I just read the paper while waiting for someone to stop by. Other times, four or five people come in at once and it gets a bit hectic. We don't have any fancy scanners or computers. I just write things down in a ledger and use a simple calculator. It’s been this way for a long time and the people around here seem to like the way things are. We just provide what is needed for the kitchen.
