Charbhuja Kirana Store

Charbhuja Kirana Store is sitting right on Ranakpur Rankpur Road where all the cars go by. It’s just a normal shop, nothing too fancy to look at from the outside. I spend most of my day behind the counter, mostly moving boxes around or weighing out bags of flour and pulses for the neighbors. The road gets quite dusty especially in the afternoons, so I am always cleaning the glass jars of candy and the soap bars. People come in mostly for their daily cooking stuff like oil, salt, and spices. Sometimes travelers stop their cars because they need some water or a pack of biscuits for the long drive ahead. It gets pretty loud with the traffic passing by but we are used to it by now. The shelves are a bit old and they squeak sometimes when I put heavy things on them. I try to keep everything in its place but when it gets busy, things get a little messy. It’s just me and a bit of help sometimes. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. It is just a place to get what you need for the house without any fuss. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit in the heat but it keeps the air moving. I know most of the people who walk through the door by their first name. We’ve been here a long time on this road.
