Chamunda Kirana Store

Chamunda Kirana Store is right here in Bapu Nagar Vistar. It is a quiet enough area most of the time, and our shop is just a local place for the people living nearby. I started this store because there wasn't much around this part of Bapu Nagar Vistar at the time. We sell the usual things like flour, pulses, spices, and tea. I spend most of my day sitting on the wooden bench behind the counter waiting for customers or sorting out the bags of grain. The shop isn't very large, so we have to pile things high up on the shelves. Sometimes a bag of sugar might leak a little, and I have to clean it up before the ants get to it. It’s just me running things usually. I know most of the people who come in by their first names. We don't have any big signs or posters. Just the name on the front. People come by for their daily milk or maybe a packet of biscuits in the evening. It’s a basic shop, nothing more. I try to make sure I don't run out of the things people need most, like cooking oil or salt. Being in Bapu Nagar Vistar is nice because it feels like a community. You see the same kids growing up and coming in for candy. It is a simple business, and we just keep it going one day at a time.
