Bhomiyaji Textile

Our place is on Mandia Road, at Sa/6-A, right near the P U C B Head Office. It’s an area where textiles are a big part of life, and we fit right in with the other warehouses and shops nearby. Inside, we have huge rolls of fabric stacked up high, reaching almost to the ceiling in some places. The air always has a bit of lint floating around, and you can smell the dye and the raw cotton as soon as you walk in. It’s a very physical job, moving these heavy bolts of cloth around and getting them ready for transport. We don't have an automated system for everything, so a lot of the measuring and cutting is done by hand on long wooden tables that have become smooth over years of use. The sunlight comes in through some high windows, showing all the colors of the fabrics we have in stock. During the rainy season, we have to be extra careful to keep everything dry because the roof has a small leak that we haven't quite fixed yet. We just put a bucket under it and keep working. The staff usually brings lunch from home and we sit together among the fabric rolls to eat and talk. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day. We’ve been on Mandia Road for a long time and know most of the truck drivers who come by to make deliveries.
