Bhagy Laxmi Sweet Home is right at Ranakpur Aankhriya Chouk 16. We’ve been here for a long time, and the shop is a familiar sight for anyone living in this part of town. Our day starts long before the sun comes up. By five in the morning, the milk is boiling and the smell of cardamom and sugar starts drifting out onto the street. We mostly make the traditional sweets that people here have always liked. The shop itself is quite plain, with just a few glass display cases and some old wooden benches for people to sit on while they eat their snacks. It’s not a modern place with bright lights or fancy packaging. The floors are a bit worn down, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint. My son and I handle most of the cooking in the back kitchen, which gets incredibly hot during the summer. We don't have a big menu or try to make anything too fancy. We just focus on the basics like gulab jamun and laddu. Most of our customers are neighbors who have been buying from us since they were children. We don't spend money on marketing; we just rely on people knowing where we are. It’s a busy life, especially during the festival season when we hardly have time to sit down. We just keep making the sweets and serving the community as best we can every single day.
