Aadarsh Misthan Bhandar

Being at Ranakpur Aakhriya Chowk means we are right in the middle of where everything happens in this part of town. Aadarsh Misthan Bhandar is a place where people naturally end up when they are walking through the chowk. We start our day by sweeping the front step and getting the big iron vats ready for the milk. It gets very hot in the kitchen area, especially when we are frying things up for the morning crowd. The chowk is always full of cows, bikes, and people chatting, so there is always something to look at while we work. We have a few wooden benches where people can sit and take a break from the sun. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we spend more time worrying about the food than how the place looks. I have lived in Ranakpur all my life, so I know just about everyone who comes through the door. We don't have any big corporate plans or anything like that. We just stay here at the chowk and keep making the sweets the way we learned a long time ago. It is a lot of hours on our feet, and some days are better than others, but it is our life and we are used to it by now. We just try to keep things simple and honest. The evenings are the best when the air cools down and the square gets quiet.
