Vatvruksh Global Foundation

Our office is just a small shop, number one, in the Siddhi Nagar complex. It’s located in the Ramwadi area of Dahanu. If you know Dahanu, you know it’s a place with a lot of trees and the sea isn't too far away. We named ourselves Vatvruksh because the banyan tree is such a big part of the landscape here. The shop isn't very large, so we mostly have a desk, a couple of cupboards for files, and enough room for three or four people to sit comfortably. It gets a bit cramped when the local folks come in all at once. Being in Thane district, we get a lot of humidity, so the fan is always on its highest setting. We aren't some big global firm with offices in every city, despite the name. We are just local people in Dahanu trying to do some good work. The complex itself is quite busy with other shops around us, so there’s always the sound of people talking or scooters zooming past. We usually keep the shutter halfway up to let some air in. It’s a simple life here. We handle everything ourselves, from cleaning the floor to answering the phone. Most of our work happens outside the office anyway, but this is where we keep our records and meet up to plan what to do next. It’s a practical little space that serves us well. Sometimes the rain hits the roof so loud we have to stop talking and just wait for it to pass.
