Our shop is Shop No-01 in the Sagar Plaza building on the Main Road in Dahanu Road. We are directly opposite the Bank of Baroda, so it’s easy for people to find us when they are doing their banking. This is an old business. We’ve been around for a long time, and the name on the sign is my grandfather’s. We sell various goods, mostly things for the house and some hardware. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling. Sometimes I think we have too much stuff, but then someone comes in asking for something specific and we find it in a corner. It’s a bit dark inside because we have so many shelves, but we know our way around. The Main Road is always loud with horns and people walking by. We open up early and stay open until quite late. My son helps me now, though he wants to change things that don't need changing. We still use an old calculator and write things down in a ledger. It has worked for fifty years, so why stop now? We know almost everyone who walks past the door. It’s a community thing. We don't do fancy promotions. We just give people what they need at a price that seems fair to us. It’s a simple life on Dahanu Road and we are happy with it. We plan to stay right here in this shop for as long as we can.
