Vartak Lane is where you’ll find us, specifically in the Block Company area of Penkar Pada. Mira Road is a large place, but our little corner is tucked away a bit. We call it Home Classes because that’s exactly what it feels like. It’s not a commercial building with glass windows and elevators. It’s just a plain, functional space where we have set up some tables for the kids. The floor is simple concrete and we have a few old shelves filled with reference books that have been passed down over the years. Some of the books have torn covers, but the information inside is still good. We don't do anything flashy here. We just sit with the students and help them get through their syllabus. Thane weather can be unpredictable, so we always have a few umbrellas leaning against the wall near the door. The noise from Penkar Pada isn't too bad, mostly just people going about their daily business. We started this because we wanted to provide something close to home for the families living nearby. There’s no big staff, just us doing the work every day. We usually start in the late afternoon and stay until it gets dark. The lighting is basic, just a few tubes on the ceiling, but it’s enough to see the pages. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We try to keep things steady even when the monsoon rains make everything damp and the power flickers for a minute.
