Our office is over at number 22 in the Al Havi Building. It's on Plot 82 right by the Aweer Fruit Market on Sativali Kaman Road. If you know Vasai East, you know how busy this whole area gets. We spend most of our time dealing with vegetables and fruits coming in from all over. It’s a lot of early mornings. We are usually up and working before most people have even thought about breakfast. The smell of fresh produce is everywhere here. Sometimes it's a bit chaotic with the crates being stacked and the forklifts moving around outside. Inside the office, we try to keep the records straight so we know what’s been sold and what’s still sitting in the cold storage. It’s a lot of phone calls to farmers and buyers. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s more about the crates and the quality of what’s inside them. If the tomatoes are bruised, we hear about it, so we try to be careful when moving things. The floors are usually a bit dusty from the market outside, but that’s normal for this line of work. We’ve been at this for a while and have seen the market change seasons over and over. Every day is different depending on what’s in harvest. It's hard work, mostly physical and logistical, but it keeps us busy. We just focus on getting the produce moved while it’s still good. It's a long day but it feels alright when we're done.
