Bihaan Social And Welfare Foundation is based out of the Om Shivalaya building, which is part of the Eden Rose complex in Mira Road East. Specifically, we are in flat B-603. It is right across from the Cinemax, so it’s pretty easy to find if you know the area. We are just a group of local people who wanted to do something for the community. The office is basically just a regular flat where we’ve set up some desks and chairs. It feels more like a home than a workplace, which makes it feel more welcoming. Mumbai is always so loud and busy, but up on the sixth floor, it’s a little bit quieter. We spend a lot of our time dealing with social issues that affect the people living in the complex and the surrounding blocks. There’s always a lot of paperwork to sort through and phone calls to make. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just us trying to help out where we can. Sometimes the lift in the building is broken, and we have to walk up, or the water is out for a bit, but that’s just life here. We aren't trying to be a massive organization. We just want to be a place where our neighbors can come when they need a bit of support. It’s honest work, and we enjoy being part of the Mira Road neighborhood.
