You can usually find us right across from the Zilla Panchayat building in Palanpur. We are in the Gitanjali Complex, at shop number five. One thing I like about working here is being so close to Sukhadia Sweet Mart. The smell of frying snacks and sweets comes drifting in around midday and it makes everyone hungry. Our shop is pretty straightforward. We’ve got rows of metal racks filled with different supplies. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than two people are behind the counter. Palanpur gets quite busy during office hours because of all the government buildings nearby. We see a lot of people coming and going across the street. The floor is that old grey tile that never looks perfectly clean no matter how much we mop it. I’ve been meaning to fix the flickering light in the back room for a month now, but somehow I never get around to it. We keep a ledger for everything because it’s easier than trusting a screen all the time. On Tuesdays, the market nearby gets really crowded and it’s hard to even get a scooter parked out front. We just take it as it comes. It’s a decent spot to spend the day, and we’ve got a good relationship with the other shopkeepers in the complex. We mostly just focus on keeping the inventory organized.
